Even in our first year we were no 1 in Mysore on Trip Advisor but there were no contact details. Guests couldn’t quite believe it
As they realised, I’m Yindian, (Indian by marriage, Yorkshire by birth) the Yorkshire bit means I’ll not spend money unnecessarily. (that’s one way of putting it)..
We’d also joke that we only wanted guests that would put the effort in and find us!!
Our Facebook entries also meant we were on Google. All that helped.
AirBnB was our other big thing. We’re still on it but sometimes forget as most guests come as returners, byword of mouth or recommendations.
Just to prove it, here’s some of the reviews from our lovely AirBnB guests.
We can assure you, that we don’t chop people’s heads off
Yours, Alice

Left a bit, straight, right a bit, wiggle it in and out….

You wouldn’t believe I’ve experience of reversing up narrow Yorkshire streets, often between parked cars.
This was so stressful.
I’ve got the Ambassador into the garage before, but not just after I’d spent a small fortune on having the car re-sprayed and renovated.
Makes one nervous.
Well it’s done and now I can go on holiday.

Nothing is straightforward, it’s India.

Sowbaghya aka SB gave it to the paper collection man as scrap.
Next …
… job is to clear the garage and obstacles (plants, furniture, two wheelers) from outside, to make the drive drivable.

I’ve accumulated so much stuff.
In my defence, I have lived here the longest in my whole life. That’s fifteen years.
One step closer.
I leave for the U.K. in two weeks and plan for radical to live there. Given the regular downpours we’ve had she should have moved in previously
I’m well suited to India.
I’m expert at putting jobs off.
There’s already too much screen time

Who knows what ….. if it wasn’t restricted!!

Our fun activities since returning to Mysore include:
Skating

Kaveri has progressed to new skates and uniform, again with the Elite Roller Skating Academy
…
Swimming

classes again at our local pool.

and a local dance centre has organised their very own summer camp.
With a day out

Let’s not talk about when it was supposed to be finished.

The cost is greater than expected but then I did add more to the list of jobs.

Still waiting
It’s the third year since meeting Kaveri.
School holiday is a great opportunity to spend wonderful adventures together.
In our first week, this year we’ve visited Kodagu, Kannur and Wayanad. A great mix of countryside, sea and sand.

Kodagu in the western ghats is a couple of hours west of Mysore.

I’ve been many time to Kannur, further west in Kerala, and taken quite a few friends. Radhika Kaveri’s sister (auntie) couldn’t join us as her mother had an accident and needed support. Lucie a French workawayer helped out at the school and stepped into the breach. A great help.

Finally Shabaz our wonderful friend from Kannur dropped is Wayanad for a final night before returning to Mysore.

The first coat of the new colour.
In my dreams it will be this

Not this

But its current stage of deconstruction is currently this
Part one wasn’t much more promising.

Fingers crossed … gnashing teeth. At least MAnjula is keeping an eye on things, and probably sniggering.
Does he never learn?
